Vueling adds more flights on UK summer routes to Spain

A recent update that Vueling has increased its capacity on flight operations connecting the USA and Spain with low-cost carriers has excited passengers. It’s a good update as being one of the well-known airline companies of the many offering itineraries to some of the popular destinations in the Mediterranean country.

As of the International Airlines Group, IAG, the Spanish airline company, has increased its capacity on key routes, connecting the UK with Alicante and Barcelona and Introducing two new routes- Bilbao and Santiago de Compostela.

New routes to Spain 

The carrier spokesperson said increasing new routes is directly linked to improved frequencies between the UK and Spain. The new airways from London Heathrow Airport to Bilbao Airport and Santiago-Rosalia de Castro Airport serve Santiago de Compostela-airport in Northern Spain.

Simultaneously there has been a removal of two routes connecting Spain cities and the UK. The recent data shared from the aviation analytics company; Cirium’s Diio Mi-Vueling plans on longer planes to fly from London Gatwick Airport to Gran Canaria Airport and Granda Federico Garcia Lorca Airport in July 2025. Meanwhile, was headed idea with lost-cost carrier operations thrice or twice to the two Spanish airports from London-Gatwick during the same month.

The exit of two routes; leaving Granada’s airport without a connection to the British capital; no airline will offer flights from any of London’s airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted to Gran Canaria-British Airways; easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair, and TUI.

Increasing capacity to Spain 

In July, Vueling plans will be heading on operations 19 additional weekly flights from Spain to the UK-that’s 3,183 additional seats. It's a huge increase of 10.6% and 9.6% year-on-year, according to a report from Cirium’s Dii Mi.

Meanwhile, Spanish low-cost carriers will work on their increased capacity on five routes to the UK, including two new itineraries to Bilbabo and Santiago De Compostela. This additionally would work on daily fleets from London-Gatwick to Seville Airport and from London-Gatwick to Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport. Apart it six weekly flights from London-Gatwick to Alicante Elche Miguel Hernandez Airport and four weekly from Edinburg Airport to Barcelona-El Prat Airport. Two weekly fleet operations from Cardiff Airport to Malaga will also follow this.

Currium’s Dii Mi showed an analysis for July airlines adding 207 weekly flights from the UK to Spain, an increase of 6.2%, resulting in 41,597 and 6.6% additional weekly seats compared to July 2024. 

A report from the International Tourism Trade Fair says, citing data from the Spanish Secretary of State for Tourism, that Spain is the most popular destination in the UK and ranks first in tourist expenditure. But still, for one reason or another, Spanish people don’t feel interested in visiting the UK; perhaps it’s the food, the weather, or the beaches.
